Spiritual concerns, whether questions about God or navigating the aftermath of spiritual abuse, are a significant and sensitive realm that requires great sensitivity and care.
Most people, at some point in their lives, have spiritual issues or questions about their faith that they want to understand. Tending to this area through trauma-informed therapy for faith and spiritual issues is a courageous calling - a journey worthy of gentleness and patience.
Everything you thought you knew about God, church, community, and life has been altered. Not only are you disillusioned by it all, but you long to find meaning once again.
You're longing for a deep, experiential shift that impacts your life and your faith.
Therapy provides a safe space to engage with your story, your concerns, and your questions. Together, we will explore your spirituality and identify areas of confusion and hurt. We will find new ways to reconnect with God and create new space for you to enjoy life with a renewed perspective about your faith.
Therapy or Spiritual Direction?
If you have experienced spiritual trauma, spiritual abuse, or harm in church, therapy is likely the best option for you.
If you are looking to explore your faith more deeply while asking questions and seeking God, Spiritual Direction might be exactly what you're looking for.
And if you can't decide whether to pursue Spiritual Direction or therapy for your spiritual concerns, here's a post on the differences between Spiritual Direction and therapy to help you better understand what might be the best fit for you.
I often blend therapy and spiritual direction into a hybrid approach, which is a good fit for many people when there are "grey areas." I am happy to discussed any questions you might have about how we might work together.
My Spiritual Framework
I am a Christian and I view life through a Christian lens, but I will never push my beliefs on you if you think or believe differently than I do.
I work with Christians, non-Christians, and people who are still sorting things out on a spiritual level.
The most important thing for you to know is that I will hold a posture of non-judgment, openness, and acceptance towards you and your beliefs as we walk this road together.
Let's begin your healing journey...
